Follow the below steps to create API token in Jenkins:
Admin permissions are necessary in order to create API token in Jenkins.
The fastest way is to go to the configuration page directly:
Open this path directly in the browser – <Jenkins-url>/user/<username>/configure and follow the steps below starting from step 6.
The long approach:
- Login as an admin user to Jenkins
- Click on “Manage Jenkins” option
- Select “Users” (This option mostly comes under “Security section”
- On the users screen select the user that you want use for creating the token
- Select “configure” option on the user page
- Under “API Token” section click on “Add new Token“
- provide a name for the token and click on “Generate“
- Copy the generated token and save it somewhere as this is shown only once
- Save the configurations
