Follow the below steps to create API token in Jenkins:
Admin permissions are necessary in order to create API token in Jenkins.

The fastest way is to go to the configuration page directly:
Open this path directly in the browser – <Jenkins-url>/user/<username>/configure and follow the steps below starting from step 6.

The long approach:

  1. Login as an admin user to Jenkins
  2. Click on “Manage Jenkins” option
  3. Select “Users” (This option mostly comes under “Security section”
  4. On the users screen select the user that you want use for creating the token
  5. Select “configure” option on the user page
  6. Under “API Token” section click on “Add new Token
  7. provide a name for the token and click on “Generate
  8. Copy the generated token and save it somewhere as this is shown only once
  9. Save the configurations
